Regional Field Service Manager

Primary Function

The Regional Field Service Manager is responsible for leading and managing all field testing, commissioning, and maintenance operations within an assigned geographic region. This role oversees crew deployment, project execution, client relationships, and regional financial performance, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery of field services across multiple concurrent engagements. The Regional Field Service Manager serves as the primary regional operations leader, bridging field execution with corporate leadership to drive growth, develop talent, and maintain Dashiell’s reputation for technical excellence in high-voltage substation services. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

Regional Operations Management

  • Direct all field service operations within the assigned region, including project scheduling, crew deployment, resource allocation, and workload balancing across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Own regional revenue, profitability, and utilization targets; develop and execute plans to meet or exceed financial performance goals.
  • Monitor project execution across the region to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Field Services and other Regional Field Service Managers to align regional activities with company-wide priorities and capacity planning.
  • Ensure all field operations comply with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards, as well as Dashiell’s internal quality and safety programs.

Client Relationship & Business Development

  • Serve as the primary client-facing representative for Dashiell’s field services within the region, building and maintaining strong relationships with utility, industrial, and energy clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region; support proposal development and participate in client presentations and scope negotiations.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality client communication throughout project lifecycles, proactively addressing issues and managing expectations.
  • Gather and relay client feedback to corporate leadership to inform service improvements and strategic planning.

People Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage Field Supervisors and field crews within the region; conduct performance evaluations, set development goals, and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
  • Drive recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build and maintain a skilled, reliable regional workforce.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with corporate resources to deliver technical and professional development programs for field personnel.
  • Foster a high-performance, safety-first culture grounded in accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion Dashiell’s safety program across all regional operations; ensure crews maintain full compliance with company safety policies, client site requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Investigate and report on incidents, near-misses, and safety observations; implement corrective actions and share lessons learned across the region.
  • Oversee regional QA/QC activities, ensuring all testing and commissioning work meets Dashiell’s standards and client specifications.

Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on regional performance, including revenue, utilization, safety metrics, and project status, to the Vice President of Field Services.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting, strategic planning, and operational improvement initiatives at the departmental level.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Required

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (2 years for Associate’s, 4 years for Bachelor’s).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in high-voltage field services, including testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation equipment and protection and control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing regional or multi-project field operations, including crew supervision, scheduling, and financial performance oversight.
  • Strong technical knowledge of relay testing, power system protection, substation commissioning, and applicable industry standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage and develop geographically distributed field teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management or field management platforms preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; ability to travel within the assigned region as required, including overnight stays.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Experience managing P&L responsibility at a regional or area level.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, InEight, or similar project controls platforms.
  • Prior experience operating within a multi-office or geographically distributed organization.
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain one.

Physical Requirements

LEVEL 3 – Hybrid (Office & Field Exposure)

  • Ability to sit for extended periods during office-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during field visits.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces.
  • Ability to navigate active construction environments including stairs, ramps, and temporary walkways.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing, and hearing protection.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.

Environmental Conditions

  • Combination of climate-controlled office work and outdoor construction environments.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and industrial conditions during site visits.
