The Human Resources Intern position is out of our Houston office located at 12301 Kurland Drive Suite 400, Houston, Texas 77034. The ideal candidate must work between 20-35 hours per week on a flexible, but consistent, schedule. 




Primary Function:

Provides support in functional areas of a human resources department; which will include, but are not limited to: personnel records management, master file management, onboarding of new employees, recruitment, employee relations, and benefits administration. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to further develop employee’s job knowledge and abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
• Assists with maintaining accurate and complete employee files
• Learn and properly enter employee masterfile changes into financial software and complete new hire set ups
• Assists with pre-employment screens, reference checks, and new employee orientations
• Learn and apply policies and procedures to answer basic employee questions
• Assist the benefit function by entering new hire enrollments, field basic benefit questions, compiling reports, and assisting with audits
• Assist the recruiting function by scheduling interviews, making travel arrangements, and assisting with college recruiting preparations
• Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as needed
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
• Other duties as required




Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or equivalent degree must be in progress. Prior experience supporting an HR function is a plus. 

Possess skills in the following areas:
• Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources
• Experience with an HRIS database is a plus
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing  
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills to initiate the research of employee questions and issues; be able to determine which issues should be escalated to HR Manager
• Ability to work under pressure and able to successfully multi-task by recognizing priorities
• Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
