Primary Function: 

The Operations Scheduler plays a critical role in developing and maintaining crew and equipment schedules to ensure timely and efficient project execution. This role works closely with field operations, project management, and fleet teams to coordinate and deploy resources in alignment with project requirements. The position will be based in our Deer Park, TX office located at 1300 Underwood Road, Deer Park, TX 77536 and will report to Dacon's Director of Project Controls. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions: 

  

  • Develop and maintain schedules for field crews, equipment, and operational resources across multiple active construction projects. 

  • Coordinate daily and weekly scheduling activities with field operations, project management, and fleet teams to optimize resource utilization. 

  • Partner with superintendents and field leadership to assign and adjust crews and equipment based on project priorities, timelines, and shifting field conditions. 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling conflicts, changes, and urgent operational needs. 

  • Collaborate with field teams to understand upcoming work scopes, manpower requirements, and equipment needs. 

  • Forecast resource needs and proactively identify gaps, overlaps, and constraints before they impact project delivery. 

  • Support mobilization and demobilization planning across job sites. 

  • Align schedules with company priorities, contract deadlines, and production goals. 

  • Communicate schedules and updates clearly and consistently to field crews, supervisors, and leadership. 

  • Provide timely notification of schedule changes, delays, and resource constraints to affected stakeholders. 

  • Maintain accurate scheduling data and support reporting on resource utilization and performance metrics. 

  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested. 

 

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Drive efficient resource deployment across Dacon's project portfolio by maintaining accurate, up-to-date crew and equipment schedules that keep field operations running without interruption. 

  • Reduce project delays and cost overruns by proactively identifying and resolving resource conflicts, gaps, and scheduling constraints before they reach the field. 

  • Strengthen collaboration between operations, project management, and fleet teams by serving as a central, reliable source of scheduling information and coordination. 

  • Support Dacon's safety culture by ensuring crews and equipment are properly planned, mobilized, and aligned with project requirements — reducing the risks that come from rushed or reactive deployment decisions. 

  • Contribute to leadership's visibility and decision-making by providing timely, accurate reporting on resource utilization, schedule performance, and capacity. 

 

Minimum Qualifications / Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred; 4 years of additional relevant experience in construction planning, scheduling, or operations coordination will be considered in lieu of a degree. 

  • Minimum 10 years of direct experience in crew and resource scheduling in a field construction or EPC environment; electrical construction experience strongly preferred. 

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 at a moderate to advanced level required. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with field supervision, project management, and fleet personnel. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment. 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in scheduling data management and reporting. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple concurrent projects. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. 

  • Valid driver's license preferred; occasional travel to project sites or other offices may be required.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work. 

  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday. 

  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. 

  • Occasional travel to other offices or project site locations. 

  

Environmental Conditions 

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment. 

  • Occasional exposure to field or industrial environments during site visits.
