Primary Function:

The Engineering Project Manager provides support for project management and control activities within the Engineering Department, working under the guidance of the Manager of Engineering Project Manager to help ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within scope. The position will be based in our Houston, TX office located at 12301 Kurland Drive, Suite 400 Houston, TX 77034 and will report to Dashiell’s Manager of EPM.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for facilitating the creation of engineering cost schedules, coordinating procurement and managing subcontractors for high voltage substation and transmission line projects while ensuring resource management and cost accounting initiatives.

 

  • Support EPC engineering execution controls, including forecasting, deliverables tracking, procurement readiness, change order management, and weekly performance reporting.

  • Collect, maintain, and validate FTE and cashflow forecasts; analyze trends vs. historical actuals and coordinate reforecasts with stakeholders.

  • Partner with Project Controls and Accounting to ensure alignment of labor coding, accruals, and financial forecasts.

  • Maintain and track engineering deliverables (IFA/IFC), including baseline dates, progress, approvals, and dependencies; escalate risks to key milestones.

  • Track procurement readiness by monitoring requisition schedules and verifying engineering inputs are complete and on time; coordinate resolution of gaps.

  • Initiate, document, and track change orders through approval, ensuring accurate records and alignment with project scope, schedule, and cost updates.

  • Develop and publish weekly performance dashboards; track planned vs. actual progress, identify variances, and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Lead or support status reviews, maintain action logs, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project data and documentation are accurate, current, and audit-ready.

  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Improve forecast accuracy by validating FTE and cashflow projections, identifying variances, and driving timely reforecasts aligned with actual performance.

  • Strengthen financial transparency by ensuring alignment between forecasts, labor coding, and accruals in coordination with Project Controls and Accounting.

  • Increase schedule reliability by proactively managing engineering deliverables (IFA/IFC) and escalating risks to key milestones before they impact execution.

  • Enable on-time procurement by ensuring requisition readiness, validating engineering inputs, and resolving gaps that could delay material releases.

  • Drive accountability and performance by publishing weekly dashboards, tracking planned vs. actual progress, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Enhance overall project execution by maintaining accurate, audit-ready data and coordinating cross-functional efforts to support informed, timely decision-making.

 

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Possess skills in the following areas:

  • Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. 1 to 2 years of experience is strongly preferred.

  • Prior project controls experience is required. Experience within the Power Industry is preferred.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail to accurately complete order entries, research for proposals, and complete reports as needed

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, ideas, and facts to a diverse group of individuals

  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment to meet all deadlines

  • Proficient with MS Office including, Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.

Environmental Conditions

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.

  • Occasional exposure to field or industrial environments during site visits.
