Primary Function:

The Assistant CAD Technical Aid provides essential software and administrative support to the design team. This role focuses on maintaining the health of the CAD environment, managing software configurations and ensuring compliance with organizational security protocols.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Perform basic installations, updates, and configurations of CAD software and related design tools
  • Monitor and resolve basic software licensing issues once trust and administrative access is established
  • Function strictly within established security constraints to protect intellectual property and system integrity
  • Troubleshoot minor software glitches and assist staff with workstation setups
  • Assist with Meridian or other Document Management/BIM software issues
  • Install printers
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested

 

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Associate’s degree in related field is required. Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Windows OS, file structures, and hardware/software interactions
  • Proven ability to learn new technical processes quickly and follow complex, multi-step instructions without deviation
  • Experience or aptitude for working within restricted environments; must demonstrate the reliability required for an administrative account
  • Ability to pass vetting process by Quanta and Dashiell network security to be granted administrative privileges
  • Familiarity working with CAD platforms (AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D, Inventor, Revit, etc.) is preferred
  • Basic exposure to AutoLisp, .NET, or VBA for automating repetitive tasks is preferred
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly report technical issues or progress to Senior IT, Senior CAD Administrator, Senior Design Supervisor, Design Leads, or individual whose system work is being performed
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and administrative responsibilities

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to other offices or locations.
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.
