Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Job Location: 1300 Underwood, Deer Park, TX 77536

Primary Function:
The Safety Coordinator supports the Safety department by providing/developing knowledge on policies and procedures, performing audits and ensuring the company is compliant with occupational health and safety guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Ensure satisfactory compliance with client required online management databases. Databases include but not limited to ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, DISA, etc.
  • Maintain third-party online auditing for NCMS. Statistical data for Drug and Alcohol per consortium (PHMSA, FMCSA, NASAP)
  • Consolidate and provide monthly/quarterly manhour reports per client requirements.
  • Store and organize incident trends in a secure database.
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings, sending out meeting appointments, and assisting with PP presentations.
  • Maintain client site requirement files and assist with questions concerning drug screens, training, and safety-related policies.
  • Process background checks, drug screens and DOT physicals for employees.
  • Coordinate safety council trainings for employees.
  • Process semiannual motor vehicle reports for all employees.
  • Coordinate monthly random screenings with employees.
  • Maintain employee records/files.
  • Assist with annual DOT audit. 
  • Order, distribute and regularly inspect AED devices.
  • General clerical including, but not limited to (filing, typing, phone calls, printing/distributing forms, documents, and materials, creating company ID cards as requested, laminating operator cards, typing operator cards, CPR/first aid cards, OSHA 10 cards, organize safety training room, ordering safety forms and posters, etc.)
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required.

  • Prior work-related experience in a safety role is preferred.
  • Previous office administration experience may be considered for the right candidate.

Knowledge & Skills
Possess skills in the following areas:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in SAP or other business management systems preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.
  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed information (through written skills and data entry)
  • Strong level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks daily.
  • Ability to work independently, take direction, and within a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires minimal physical effort.
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
