Primary Function:
The Marketing & Communications Specialist supports Dashiell Corporation’s marketing, employee communications, and employer branding initiatives through graphic design, creative execution, campaign development, digital marketing, and communications coordination. This position translates business and communication needs into visually compelling materials and accessible digital experiences that inform employees, strengthen brand consistency, and support recruiting and business development.
The role partners with Human Resources, Safety, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to deliver projects and campaigns from concept through completion, provide creative direction for assigned initiatives, maintain digital channels, and recommend improvements based on audience needs and performance. A significant focus is supporting internal communications that keep employees across offices and field locations informed and connected. The position can be remote, with a preference for our Houston located at 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, Texas 77034, and will report to Dashiell’s Senior Director of Marketing & Communications.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
Graphic Design & Creative Direction
- Design and produce digital and print materials, including presentations, brochures, infographics, employee communications, recruitment materials, social media graphics, signage, and event collateral.
- Develop visual concepts and provide creative direction for assigned projects, including layout, typography, imagery, and presentation of information within established brand standards.
- Produce graphics and collateral for conferences, trade shows, client meetings, and industry events.
- Create and maintain reusable templates that help employees produce professional, consistent presentations and communications.
- Coordinate photography, basic video production, and visual storytelling projects; provide creative guidance and feedback to external vendors as needed.
- Maintain an organized library of approved photography, logos, templates, and other creative assets.
Campaign Development & Execution
- Create and execute integrated campaigns supporting safety culture, employee engagement, recruiting, and customer marketing, including campaigns tailored to utility and data center customers.
- Develop campaign briefs that define the target audience, objectives, key messages, calls to action, channel mix, deliverables, timelines, and success measures in alignment with established business priorities.
- Recommend and coordinate the most effective mix of social media, webinars, videos, carousels, email marketing, newsletters, website landing pages, and internal communication channels for each campaign.
- Lead creative development and hands-on production of campaign graphics, layouts, presentations, and digital assets; adapt approved messaging and subject matter expert input into concise, audience-focused content.
- Coordinate campaign execution from concept through launch, including stakeholder input, approvals, asset production, scheduling, publishing, and follow-up activities.
- Track campaign performance against agreed objectives, share results with stakeholders, and recommend adjustments to creative, messaging, audience targeting, and channel use.
Internal Communications Support
- Coordinate the development, design, approval, and distribution of internal communications in partnership with Human Resources, leadership, and department contacts.
- In coordination with HR, maintain an internal communications calendar covering employee programs, company updates, benefits enrollment, safety initiatives, recognition activities, and events.
- Design and assemble employee newsletters, email announcements, digital signage, intranet updates, and other materials using information supplied by internal stakeholders.
- Maintain internal communication channels and coordinate with HR and IT on publishing access, distribution lists, and delivery issues.
- Track available engagement measures and employee feedback; recommend practical improvements to communication formats, timing, and channel use.
Digital Marketing, Website & UX Design
- Maintain and update company website pages through the content management system, including service information, project highlights, career pages, imagery, and approved company updates.
- Design page layouts, landing pages, wireframes, and simple prototypes that improve visual clarity, navigation, and the user experience.
- Coordinate with IT and external website partners on technical updates, enhancements, and troubleshooting; review completed changes for accuracy and usability.
- Support digital campaigns through landing page development, email design, digital graphics, and campaign setup and coordination.
- Apply basic search engine optimization practices, including page titles, headings, image descriptions, and link maintenance.
- Monitor website and campaign performance, summarize results, and recommend practical improvements to engagement and user experience.
Social Media Support & Calendar Management
- Manage the day-to-day social media calendar, coordinating topics, asset needs, deadlines, stakeholder reviews, and publishing schedules.
- Support Dashiell’s social media presence, with an emphasis on LinkedIn and other approved channels.
- Create social graphics, carousels, short videos, and other visual assets tailored to each platform.
- Monitor comments, messages, and company mentions; route questions or sensitive matters to the appropriate internal contact.
- Track engagement and audience trends, prepare routine performance summaries, and recommend adjustments to formats, timing, and content mix.
- Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field. Four years of directly relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience in graphic design, marketing, digital communications, or a related function, with demonstrated ownership of projects from concept through delivery.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design, layout, presentation design, and digital creative work.
- Experience developing and executing campaigns across multiple channels, translating audience needs into creative concepts, and evaluating campaign performance.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, or equivalent design tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Experience maintaining websites through WordPress or a comparable content management system.
- Working knowledge of UX design principles, responsive layouts, digital accessibility, and tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
- Experience managing social media calendars, scheduling content, and reviewing platform analytics.
- Experience supporting internal communications, employee campaigns, newsletters, intranet updates, or similar initiatives.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and concise copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt supplied information for different audiences and channels.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, organize stakeholder feedback, and exercise sound judgment within established priorities.
- Strong collaboration skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in engineering, construction, energy, industrial services, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms, SharePoint or other intranet tools, web analytics, and basic SEO.
- Experience supporting employee events, trade shows and conferences, recruitment marketing, or communications for geographically dispersed teams.
- Basic photography, video editing, or motion graphics capabilities.
Driving is not required for this role; occasional travel to Dashiell offices and project sites may be required.

- Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.
