RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are currently seeking a Graduate Engineer in our Transmission line group. With guidance from a Supervising Engineer and department staff, the Transmission Line Graduate Engineer is responsible for design-related tasks in support of high voltage (69,000 Volts and above) transmission line projects.  Typical transmission line project duties include, but are not limited to, route selection, structure spotting, above grade structural analysis, foundation design, electrical and physical clearance evaluation, wire selection, drawing creation and review, material procurement, construction support, and project closeout.
  • Use PLS-CADD and other industry standard software to design high-voltage transmission lines to client specifications
  • Weigh competing constraints to determine design solutions that best meet client goals
  • Apply basic foundation and structural analysis knowledge to design and analyze transmission line structures
  • Interpret industry codes to ensure electrical clearance and public safety requirements are met
  • Travel to client offices or transmission project sites throughout the United States for the purpose of client meetings, constructability reviews, inspection of in-progress or as-built projects, or other client requirements
  • Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of drawings and documents prepared by others in the department
  • Review vendor drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Develop department-specific design tools
  • Other duties as assigned
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University with a structural and/or foundation concentration.
  • An Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain the EIT certificate within two years of the date of hire is required.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications (including but not limited to Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat) is required.
  • Candidate must pass a background and drug screening.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Internship or other prior work experience within the industry.
Candidates will be placed in the appropriate job title based on education, years of experience and industry knowledge.
